S&P Futures are up 1 with -1 Fair Value, NASDAQ Futures are up 1 with -1 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 6 as we hit mid-week and the market seems to be holding steady ahead of the monthly jobs report this Friday where an increase in payroll growth could give the Fed justification to go forth with raising interest rates later this month.
This morning's Economic Calendar includes: MBA Mortgage Applications, ADP Jobs Report, Productivity and Costs, Wholesale Trade and EIA Petroleum Inventories followed by Results of $20B, 10-Year Note Auction this afternoon.
The earnings winners are: The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (PLCE), up nearly 8% and H&R Block Inc. (HRB), up over 7%. On the other hand, Express, Inc. (EXPR) is down nearly 11%, Vera Bradley (VRA) is down nearly 9% and Urban Outfitters, Inc. (URBN) is down over 6.5%.
Futures were down in early morning and recovered by 5am and are at the highs as we approach the open.
Asian markets ended mostly down. China went down 0.05%, Hong Kong gained 0.43% and Japan dropped 0.47%. European markets are mixed. The UK is down 0.17%, Germany is up 0.12% and France is down 0.05%.
Commodities are mostly down this morning. Oil is down 1.05%, natural gas is up 3.22% and gold is down 0.34%. Unleaded gas is up 0.62% and heating oil is down 0.23%. Metals are down except copper. Meats are mixed. Cocoa, coffee, cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are all down.
Choppy day ahead as data strengthens rate hike odds. ADP reports businesses added a booming 298,000 jobs in February. China sees first monthly trade deficit in 3 years.
H&R Block Inc. (HRB) reported a Q3 loss yesterday afternoon with an adjusted loss of 49 cents per share that beat expectations and is up over 7%. Urban Outfitters, Inc. (URBN) announced Q4 results with a profit of 55 cents per share that missed expectations and is down over 6.5%. Ooma (OOMA) reported a Q4 loss with adjusted earnings of 1 cent per share that beat expectations and has yet to react.
Ciena Corporation (CIEN) reported Q1 results this morning with adjusted earnings of 26 cents per share that missed expectations and is down nearly 2.5% in pre-market. Express, Inc. (EXPR) announced Q4 results with profit of 29 cents per share that met expectations and is down nearly 11%. Vera Bradley (VRA) reported Q4 results with adjusted profit of 28 cents per share that beat expectations and is down nearly 9%. The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (PLCE) announced QQ results with adjusted earnings of $1,88 per share that beat expectations and is up nearly 8%. Adidas AG ADR (ADDYY) reported a lower Q4 loss than expected, beating expectations but has yet to react.
This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Bankrate Inc. (RATE), United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) and Tailored Brands, Inc (TLRD).
Tomorrow morning before the open, Care.com, Inc. (CRCM), Stratasys, Inc. (SSYS), FuelCell Energy, Inc. (FCEL), Plug Power, Inc. (PLUG) and Staples, Inc. (SPLS) are expected to report.

AAPL painted a red to green picture, ending up 0.13% on very low volume. AAPL opened at 139.06 to high volume and quickly dipped to an intra-day low of 138.79 at 9:45am on moderate volume. AAPL bounced back sharply after 10am and soared up to an intra-day high of 139.98 at 10:32am on moderate volume before slipping to the mid-139 area later in the morning. Lunch seemed to be starting with a bang but fizzled back to the mid-139 area where AAPL remained on very low volume for the rest of the afternoon until the last 20 minutes when AAPL quickly dipped into the low-139 zone on moderate volume and bounced back into the close on moderate volume. AAPL ended the day up 18 cents at 139.52 and gave up 16 of those cents in after-hours to 139.36.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL picked up with yesterday's intra-day close and slipped conjunction with Futures as Apple announced component supplier Ibiden will power all of its manufacturing with 100% renewable energy, scraping a pre-market low of 138.77 at 8:43am. AAPL is currently down 72 cents at 138.80 as we approach the open.
