Apple Today 2/22/2017 Fed (AAPL)

S&P Futures are down 3 with -2 Fair Value, NASDAQ Futures are down 1 with +1 Fair Value and Dow Futures are down 1 on this busy Wednesday as the Fed gets ready to release minutes from its January meeting at 2pm with possible hints of a March rate hike. The Dow set an 8th consecutive record yesterday and later today Tesla (TSLA) will report its 4th quarter earnings after the markets close.
This morning's busy Economic Calendar includes: MBA Mortgage Applications, Redbook Chain Store Sales, Existing Home Sales and Results of $13B, 2-Year FRN Auction followed by PM Results of $34B, 5-Year Note Auction, PM Fed's Powell: Economic Outlook and Monetary Policy and PM FOMC minutes this afternoon.
The earnings winners are: Garmin Ltd. (GRMN), up over 8.5%, Toll Brothers Inc. (TOL), up nearly 6.5% and Mobileye (MBLY) up over 2%. On the other hand, Texas Roadhouse, Inc. (TXRH) is down over 10% and Papa John's International, Inc. (PZZA) is down nearly 5%.
Futures were up in early morning, peaked just before 3:30am then dipped into the red soon after and are off the lows as we approach the open.
Asian markets ended mostly up. China went up 0.24%, Hong Kong gained 0.99% and Japan went down 0.01%. European markets are mixed. The UK is up 0.08%, Germany is up 0.06% and France is down 0.20%.
Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.99%, natural gas is up 0.16% and gold is up 0.08%. Unleaded gas is down 0.36% and heating oil is down 1.31%. Metals are down except gold. Meats are mixed. Cocoa, coffee, cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are all up.

First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) reported a Q4 loss yesterday afternoon with adjusted earnings of $1.24 per share that topped expectations and while initially up yesterday after the report, FSLR is down nearly 2% in pre-market. Texas Roadhouse, Inc. (TXRH) announced Q4 results with profit of 29 cents per share that missed expectations and is down over 10%. Copart, Inc. (CPRT) reported Q2 results with adjusted earnings of 58 cents per share that met expectations and is down over 2%. Extra Space Storage, Inc. (EXR) announced Q4 results that beat expectations and has yet to react.
Mobileye (MBLY) reported Q4 results this morning with adjusted earnings of 22 cents per share that beat expectations and is up over 2% in pre-market. TJX Companies Inc. (TJX) announced Q4 results with profit of $1.03 per share that beat expectations and is up over 1.5%. Garmin Ltd. (GRMN), reported Q4 results with adjusted earnings of 73 cents per share that beat expectations and is up over 8.5%. DISH Network Corporation (DISH) reported Q4 results with net income of 70 cents per share that beat expectations and is up over 1%. Invesco Mortgage Capital Inc. (IVR) announced Q4 results with adjusted earnings of 36 cents per share and is down nearly 1%. Toll Brothers Inc. (TOL) reported Q1 results with profit of 42 cents per share that beat expectations and is up nearly 6.5%. Papa John's International, Inc. (PZZA) announced Q4 results with adjusted earnings of 69 cents per share the beat expectations and is down nearly 5%.
This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Tesla Motors (TSLA), The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated (CAKE), ARRIS International plc (ARRS), Jack In The Box Inc. (JACK), Boston Beer Co. (SAM), Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. (PLKI), Digimarc Corporation (DMRC), Green Dot Corporation (GDOT), HP Inc. (HPQ), Transocean Ltd. (RIG), Sunoco LP (SUN), Weibo Corporation (WB), Fitbit, Inc. (FIT) and Square, Inc. (SQ).
Tomorrow morning before the open, Toro Company (TTC), Intercept Pharmaceuticals (ICPT), Chesapeake Energy Corporation (CHK), Gildan Activewear Inc. (GIL), AMC Networks Inc. (AMCX), Iron Mountain Inc. (IRM), Kohl's Corporation (KSS), Pinnacle Foods (PF), LendingTree, Inc. (TREE), Wayfair (W), Barclays PLC (BCS), Hormel Foods Corporation (HRL) and Seadrill Limited (SDRL) are expected to report.

AAPL showed a mountain of strength yesterday, ending up 0.72% on low volume. AAPL opened up at 136.23 to high volume and quickly shook-tested the low-136 area and mid-136 area before wobbling to an intra-day low of 135.98 at 11:38am on low volume. AAPL held 136 over lunchtime and made a fierce run in the afternoon on low volume, reaching an intra-day high of 136.75 at 3:56pm on moderate volume into the close. AAPL ended the day up 98 cents at 136.70 and dropped 2 cents in after-hours to 136.68.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened lower and dipped as reports that Apple Park campus will open to employees in April. AAPL is currently down 21 cents at 136.49 as we approach the open.
