Apple Today 12/21/2016 (AAPL)

S&P Futures are down 2 with -2 Fair Value, NASDAQ Futures are down 2 with -3 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 9 on this Wednesday as the Dow pushes towards 20,000 on this winter solstice as AirPods finally ship just in time to stuff stockings.
A relatively mild economic calendar for this morning includes MBA Mortgage Applications, Existing Home Sales and EIA Petroleum Inventories.
Earnings winners include Winnebago Industries, Inc. (WGO), up over 5% and Nike Inc. (NKE), up over 2% while the big earnings dud is The Finish Line, Inc. (FINL), down nearly 15%, followed by Accenture plc (ACN), down nearly 3.5%, FedEx Corporation (FDX), down over 2.5% and Paychex, Inc. (PAYX), down over 2%.
Futures were down slightly in early morning, peaked into the green zone near 3:30am and then slipped underwater later in the morning and are at the lows as we approach the open.
Asian markets ended mostly up. China gained 1.11%, Hong Kong went up 0.37% and Japan went down 0.26%. European markets are down. The UK is down 0.09%, Germany is down 0.01% and France is leading the decline, down 0.46%.
Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 0.21%, natural gas is up 4.47% and gold is up 0.33%. Unleaded gas is up 0.16% and heating oil is down 0.07%. Metals are up except platinum. Meats are down. Cocoa, cotton and soybeans are up while coffee, corn and wheat are down.
Dow set to chase 20,000 again. Dollar retreats from 14-year high, banks drag Europe shares lower.
FedEx Corporation (FDX) reported Q2 earnings with mixed results and is down over 2.5% in pre-market. Nike Inc. (NKE) announced Q2 results that beat expectations and is up over 2%.
Actuant Corporation (ATU) reported adjusted Q1 earnings of 20 cents per share that topped expectations and is up over 0.5% in pre-market. Accenture plc (ACN) announced Q1 results with lowered outlook and is down nearly 3.5%. The Finish Line, Inc. (FINL) reported a Q3 adjusted loss of $1 per share and is down nearly 15%. Winnebago Industries, Inc. (WGO) announced Q1 results with adjusted earnings of 60 cents per share and is up over 5%. Paychex, Inc. (PAYX) reported Q2 results with a profit of 56 cents per share that beat expectations and is down over 2%.
This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Herman Miller, Inc. (MLHR), Red Hat, Inc. (RHT), Micron Technology Inc. (MU) and Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (BBBY).
Tomorrow morning before the open, ConAgra Brands, Inc. (CAG) is expected to report.

AAPL had a bright day yesterday, ending up 0.27% on low volume. AAPL opened up at 116.74 to high volume and put in an intra-day low of 116.68 on high volume before shooting up sharply to mid-117 and setting an intra-day high of 117.50 at 9:48am. AAPL subsequently slipped to 117 and held this line in a narrow range on low volume until 2pm when AAPL dimmed lower into the upper-116 area on low volume and bounced back slightly after 3pm, touching 117 again at 3:34pm on low volume before dimming below 117 into the close on moderate volume. AAPL ended the day up 31 cents at 116.95 and gained 1 cent in after-hours to 116.96.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened higher and reached as high as 117.25 at 4:33am before slipping to a low of 116.65 later in the morning at 7:51am. AAPL is currently down 3 cents at 116.90 as we approach the open.
Classic max-pain is 115.
