Apple Today - 9/21/2016 FOMC (AAPL)

NASDAQ Futures are up 20 with +19 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 7 with +6 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 61 on this Wednesday with a boost from the BOJ and the Fed in the spotlight st 2pm. Among the FOMC activities today, mortgage applications and petroleum inventories are expected in the morning and the earnings pace dials up a bit with a handful of earnings on deck. Futures were up in early morning and continued up to a peak just after 3am, then backed off slightly and are near the highs as we approach the open.
Asian markets ended up. China went up 0.10%, Hong Kong gained 0.59% and Japan led the advance, up 1.91%. European markets are up. The UK is up 0.27%, Germany is up 1.04% and France is leading the advance, up 1.10%.
Commodities are mostly up this morning. Oil is up 1.95%, natural gas is up 0.20% and gold is up 0.71%. Unleaded gas is up 2.52% and heating oil is up 1.64%. Metals are mostly up except copper. Meat is mixed. Cocoa, coffee and cotton are up while corn, wheat and soybeans are down.
Over to the Fed after world stocks get a lift from BOJ.
Adobe Systems Incorporated (ADBE) reported Q3 earnings yesterday afternoon that beat expectations, added higher guidance and is up nearly 5% in pre-market. FedEx Corporation (FDX) announced Q1 results that beat forecasts and is up over 3.5%. On the other hand, KB Home (KBH) is down slightly after announcing Q3 results of 42 cents per share profit, beating expectations.
General Mills, Inc. (GIS) reported Q1 results this morning with a 5th consecutive quarterly drop in net sales and is down nearly 0.5% in pre-market. CarMax Group (KMX) announced adjusted Q2 earnings of 88 cents per share, meeting expectations and is down over 6.5%.
This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Jabil Circuit Inc. (JBL), Herman Miller, Inc. (MLHR), Red Hat, Inc. (RHT) and Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (BBBY).
Tomorrow morning before the open, AutoZone, Inc (AZO) and Scholastic Corporation (SCHL) are expected to report.
AAPL dipped into shark-filled waters yesterday but managed to evade any beastly attacks, ending down just 0.01% on a bit higher than average volume. AAPL opened down at 113.06 to high volume and quickly dipped to an intra-day low of 112.51 at 9:30am on heavy volume before bouncing back above 113 moments later. AAPL proceeded to make strides towards positive territory and the mid-113 area and swam above 114 by 10:01am on low volume before dipping toes back underwater 10 minutes later on moderate volume and then bouncing back above 114 to set an intra-day high of 114.12 at 11:08am. AAPL then slipped back down to the mid-113 area during lunchtime on low volume and sunk to low-113 on moderate volume afterwards. AAPL bounced off of 113.18 at 1:05pm and turned green again shortly after 2pm on low volume and buoyed up into the upper-114 area later in the afternoon also on low volume. AAPL sunk into the close on moderate volume, turning negative again at the very last minute. AAPL ended the day down 1 cent at 113.57. AAPL gained 8 cents in after-hours to 113.65.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened higher in conjunction with Futures and danced around the 114-area most of the morning with periodic spikes into the mid-114 area and later gravitated towards 114. AAPL is currently up 43 cents at 114 as we approach the open.
Classic max-pain is 112. The FOMC announcement is today at 2pm with Janet Yellen's speech following at 2:30pm.
