Apple Today - 8/31/2016 (AAPL)

NASDAQ Futures are down 1 with -1 Fair Value, S&P Futures are down 1 with flat Fair Value and Dow Futures are down 8 as we reach the last day of August with a busy economic calendar, including ADP jobs report and pending home sales. Futures were up slightly in early morning and then dipped into negative territory shortly after 1am setting a low just before 3am before bouncing back in a little over 30 minutes and then dancing around break-even
for the next few hours and are currently slightly down as we approach the open.
Asian markets ended mostly up. China went up 0.35%, Hong Kong dropped 0.17% and Japan gained 0.97%. European markets are mixed. The UK is down 0.05%, Germany is down 0.12% and France is up 0.63%.
Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.84%, natural gas is up 0.67% and gold is down 0.03%. Unleaded gas is down 1.32% and heating oil is down 1.17%. Metals are up except gold. Meat is up strong. Cocoa and coffee are up while cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are down.
US private sector adds 177,000 jobs in August according to ADP. Nigerian economy slips into recession.
Palo Alto Networks (PANW) reported a Q4 loss yesterday afternoon that met expectations but forecast below estimates and is down over 5% in pre-market. H&R Block Inc. (HRB) announced Q1 results that were weaker than expected and is down nearly 6%. Ooma (OOMA) beat Q2 EPS expectations by 3 cents and has yet to react.
Frontline Ltd. (FRO) reported Q2 adjusted earnings of 31 cents per share, beating expectations but is down over 6.5% in pre-market.
This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Salesforce.com, Inc. (CRM), Box (BOX) and Shoe Carnival, Inc. (SCVL).
Tomorrow morning before the open, Campbell Soup Company (CPB), Ciena Corporation (CIEN), Vera Bradley (VRA) and Lands' End, Inc. (LE) are expected to report.
AAPL was issued a "speeding ticket" by the EU yesterday, dropping 0.77% on low volume. AAPL opened down at 105.80 to high volume and quickly set an intra-day high of 106.50 at 9:38am on moderately heavy volume before slipping back towards 106 on moderate volume. Within an hour 106 broke and AAPL bounced in the upper-105 area on mild volume before reclaiming the low-106 area on low volume until late lunch. After lunch, AAPL dipped on low volume, setting an intra-day low of 105.50 at 2:36pm on low volume, then bouncing back towards 106 on low volume. AAPL was able to press up into the close and ended the day down 82 cents at 106 even and then shed another penny in after-hours to 105.99.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened slightly lower than yesterday's after-hours and soon tested 105.82 before reclaiming 106 later in the morning. AAPL reached a pre-market high of 106.21 at 8:15am and then headed below 106 again. AAPL is currently down 15 cents at 105.85 as we approach the open.
Classic max-pain is 106.
