Apple Today - 8/01/2016 (AAPL)

Good Morning,
NASDAQ Futures are up 6 with +9 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 3 with +3 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 30 as we welcome August with another busy day of earnings and a handful on events on the economic calendar. Futures were up in early morning and reaching a peak just after 2am, but dropped to a low at 6am and have since bounced up a bit off the lows as we await the open.
Asian markets ended mixed. China dropped 0.87%, Hong Kong gained 1.09% and Japan gained 0.40%. European markets are down. The UK is down 0.25%, Germany is down 0.02% and France is leading the decline, down 0.53%.
Commodities are mostly down this morning. Oil is down 1.01%, natural gas is down 1.01% and gold is down 0.18%. Unleaded gas is down 0.37% and heating oil is down 1.26%. Metals are up except gold. Meat is down. Cocoa, cotton and wheat are up while coffee, corn and soybeans are down.
Asian shares hit 1-year peak as chances of US rate hike recede. China July factory activity unexpectedly dips on softer orders, flooding. SolarCity agrees to $2.6 billion buyout offer from Tesla.
Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. (DO) reported Q2 earnings that beat estimates and is up over 2.5% in pre-market. Loews Corporation (L) announced a Q2 earnings loss of 19 cents per share and is up slightly.
This afternoon after the bell, look out for earnings from Dun & Bradstreet Corp. (DNB), Texas Roadhouse, Inc. (TXRH), XO Group Inc. (XOXO) and Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDTI).
Tomorrow morning before the open, RetailMeNot, Inc. (SALE), WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (WCG), CVS Health Corporation (CVS), Avon Products, Inc. (AVP), The Mosaic Company (MOS), Molson Coors Brewing Company (TAP), Vonage Holdings Corp. (VG), Discovery Communications, Inc (DISCA), Hyatt Hotels Corporation (H), SodaStream International (SODA), The Procter & Gamble Company (PG), Aetna, Inc. (AET), Seagate Technology (STX), Arrow Electronics Inc (ARW), Carbonite Inc. (CARB), Infineon Technologies AG (IFNNF), Pitney Bowes Inc. (PBI) and Pfizer Inc. (PFE) are expected to report.
AAPL had a strong week fueled by earnings, up 5.63%. On Monday, AAPL painted a bit of red, from upper-98 to 97 on moderate volume. On Tuesday, the day of the big event, AAPL dipped into the mid-96 area during intra-day and then launched up towards 104 on heavy after-hours volume after earnings were announced. On Wednesday, AAPL shot up to 104 on huge volume and then settled the post-earnings day at 103. On Thursday, AAPL continued to beat higher, recapturing the mid-104 area on lower than average volume. On OPEX Friday, AAPL dipped 0.14% on low volume yet ended the month on a high note. AAPL opened down slightly at 104.19 to high volume and immediately set an intra-day high of 104.55 on high volume before slipping below 104 lithin minutes. AAPL went on to set an intra-day low of 103.68 at 9:56am before turning around and pushing up above 104 later in the morning. AAPL continued to climb in early afternoon, turning green around 1:30pm and conceded a daily gain an hour later with a loss into the close, ending the day down 13 cents at 104.19. AAPL gained 6 cents in after-hours to 104.25.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened higher in conjunction with Futures and made a run for the upper-104 area before settling towards mid-104. AAPL is currently up 42 cents at 104.63 as we approach the open.
