Apple Today - 7/15/2016 OPEX (AAPL)

NASDAQ Futures are flat with zero Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 1 with +1 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 7 as we close out the flagship week of earnings with a full economic calendar after a tragic attack in Nice, France. Futures were fairly flat in early morning, then dipped into the red around 2:45am before recovering around 7:45am and are near flat again as we await the open.
Asian markets ended up. China went up 0.01%, Hong Kong gained 0.46% and Japan led the advance, up 0.68%. European markets are down. The UK is down 0.15%, Germany is down 0.21% and France is leading the decline, down 0.34%.
Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is up 0.26%, natural gas is down 1.54% and gold is up 0.23%. Unleaded gas is up 0.57% and heating oil is up 0.35%. Metals are down except copper. Meat is mostly up. Cocoa, coffee, cotton are up while corn, wheat and soybeans are down.
Retail sales in US climb more than forecast in broad advance. Consumer prices in US increased in June as fuel, rents climbed. New York manufacturing growth slows.
Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) reported Q2 earnings this morning with mixed results and is down 1% in pre-market. Citigroup Inc. (C) announced Q2 earnings that beat expectations and is up over 1%. First Horizon National Corporation (FHN) reported Q2 earnings that topped estimates and is up over 3.5%. U.S. Bancorp (USB) reported Q2 earnings that beat expectations and is up over 1%. On the other hand, Infosys Limited, Inc. (INFY) announced Q1 earnings that missed expectations and is down nearly 8.5%.
Monday morning before the bell, look out for earnings from Bank of America Corp (BAC), Cal-Maine Foods Inc (CALM), Charles Schwab Corp (SCHW) and Hasbro Inc (HAS).
Despite the dip on Wednesday, AAPL boomeranged back up strong, gaining 1.98% on slightly lower than average volume. AAPL opened up at 97.33 to high volume and immediately set an intra-day low of 97.33 on high volume and launched up to the mid-98 area on moderately strong volume within an hour. AAPL remained in a narrow range within the mid-97 zone until after 2pm when AAPL made a dash into the upper-97 area, setting an intra-day high of 98.99 at 3:16pm on high volume. AAPL ended the day up 1.92 at 98.79 and dropped 19 cents in after-hours to 98.60.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up higher in the upper-98 area and gravitated back toward the 98.5 line. AAPL is currently down 23 cents at 98.56 as we approach the open.
