Good Morning,
NASDAQ Futures are down 29 with -33 Fair Value, S&P Futures are down 14 with -15 Fair Value and Dow Futures are down 120 as earnings season reaches a peak. Futures were green in early morning and slid significantly beginning at 3am, finally stabilizing around 7am and are at the lows as we await the open.
Asian markets ended mixed today. China gained 1.85%, Hong Kong dropped 1.85% and Japan was closed. European markets are down today. The UK is currently down 0.93%, Germany is down 1.68% and France is down 1.55%.
Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.92%, natural gas is up 1.81% and gold is up 0.36%. Unleaded gas is down 2.12% and heating oil is down 0.93%. Metals are mixed. Meat is up. Coffee, corn, wheat and soybeans are up while cocoa and cotton are down.
Global stocks slide as yen, euro gains question policy thrust. Worries mount over Eurozone growth, Greece and Brexit.
American International Group Inc (AIG) reported Q1 earnings yesterday afternoon with weak revenue and an earnings miss and is down nearly 3% in pre-market.
CVS Health Corporation (CVS) announced Q1 earnings this morning beating expectations and is up over 1%. Sprint Corporation (S) reported Q4 earnings with a loss and is up 2%. Pfizer Inc. (PFE) reported Q1 earnings beating expectations and raises guidance is up nearly 2.5% in pre-market. On the other hand, UBS Group AG (UBS) announced Q1 earnings with mixed results and is down nearly 6.5%. Halliburton Company (HAL) announced a Q1 earnings loss and is down nearly 1.5% in pre-market.
This afternoon after the bell, look for earnings from Overstock.com, Inc. (OSTK), The Western Union Company (WU), CBS Corporation (CBS), Cray Inc (CRAY), Devon Energy Corporation (DVN), Potbelly Corporation (PBPB), Zendesk, Inc. (ZEN), Avis Budget Group, Inc. (CAR), Etsy, Inc. (ETSY), Papa John's International, Inc. (PZZA), Noodles & Company (NDLS), Nutrisystem Inc (NTRI) and Glu Mobile Inc. (GLUU).
Tomorrow morning, CDW Corporation (CDW), Time Warner Inc. (TWX), Wix.com (WIX), Priceline Group Inc. (PCLN), Vitamin Shoppe, Inc. (VSI), Shutterstock (SSTK), Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA/NV (BUD), Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (CPK), LendingTree, Inc. (TREE), Kate Spade & Company (KATE) and adidas AG ADR (ADDYY) are expected to report.
AAPL was off to a rough start on the wrong side of the tracks but in the end only dropped 0.11% for the day on heavy volume. AAPL opened at 93.96 to high volume and immediately put in the intra-day high of 94.08 before free-falling to a low of 92.40 on strong volume, this may be one of the fastest times I have ever seen an intra-day high and low set. Afterwards, AAPL bounced back to the lower 93-area before settling in the upper 92-area until 2pm when AAPL gained into the close on news Cook would appear on "Mad Money" and AAPL even managed to turn green just before closing down 10 cents for the day to end at 93.64. AAPL gained 17 cents in after-hours to end at 93.81.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened lower in conjunction with Futures and spent early morning in the low-93 area but managed to recover towards 94 after 7am. AAPL is currently up 35 cents at 93.99 as we approach the open.
Classic max-pain is 95.
