Apple Today - 4/08/2016 OPEX (AAPL)
seymour_greenz April 8th 2016 01:11:28 PMGood Morning,
Happy Friday. NASDAQ Futures are up 27 with +30 Fair Value, S&P Futures are up 11 with +12 Fair Value and Dow Futures are up 83 on this first full week of April and OPEX. Futures were looking fairly good early this morning and took a turn for the better at 3am and have since held up very well as we await the open.
Asian markets ended mixed. China dropped 0.78%, Hong Kong gained 0.48% and Japan went up 0.46%. European markets are up today. The UK is currently up 0.86%, France is up 1.04% and Germany is leading the advance, up 1.24%.
Commodities are mostly up this morning. Oil is up 3.78%, natural gas is up 0.74% and gold is down 0.19%. Unleaded gas is up 3.24% and heating oil is up 3.84%. Metals are mixed. Meat is mixed. Cocoa, coffee, cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans are all up.
Wall Street set to open higher as oil surges. Yellen, alongside Fed alum, says rate hikes on track. Yellen says US near full employment, some slack remains.
Ruby Tuesday, Inc. (RT) reported Q3 earnings yesterday announcing a loss, lower guidance and a CFO resignation this morning and is down nearly 17% in pre-market. WD-40 Company (WDFC) also reported earnings yesterday with a Q2 profit and mixed guidance and fell nearly 1%.
On Monday before the open, Protective Life Corporation (PL) is expected to report.
AAPL got a smack down with little "love" in sight yesterday, dropping 2.18% on reasonable volume. AAPL opened at 110 to moderate volume and soon after hit a high in the low-110 area (though there was a rogue spike to 110.42 at 10:28am). AAPL continued to take a beating, rolling downhill on selling pressure all day on moderately low volume, finally settling in the mid-108 area by 3pm. Despite a struggle and a brief dip to the day's low of 108.12 at 3:20pm on moderate volume, AAPL appeared to be able to hold mid-108 into the close. AAPL ended the day down 2.42 at 108.54 and dropped an additional 15 cents in after-hours to 108.39.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up in conjunction with cheerful Futures and spent most of the early morning recovering the low-109 area and then eagerly ramped up above 109.5 later on in the morning. AAPL is currently up 1.02 at 109.56 as we approach the open.
Classic max-pain is 108. Today is OPEX. Have a good weekend with your friends and family.
