seymour_greenz January 26th 2016 10:35:17 AMGood Morning,
NASDAQ Futures are up 9 with +9 Fair Value, Dow Futures are up 38 on this big day of earnings season filled with economic data, complete with a 2016 FOMC meeting kick-off. Futures were down substantially lower at 3am and have made a strong recovery as we approach the open.
Asian markets closed sharply lower today. Hong Kong closed down 2.48%, Japan dropped 2.35% and China led the decline down a whopping 6.42%. European markets are basically flat today. The UK is currently down 0.17%, Germany is up 0.09% and France is down 0.15%
Commodities are mixed this morning. Oil is down 0.69%, natural gas is up 1.39% and gold is up 0.72%. Unleaded gas is down 1.59% and heating oil is down 0.55%. Metals are up. Meat is down. Cocoa, coffee, cotton, corn, soybeans and wheat are all down.
Chinese stocks took a big hit today. The Shanghai Composite index dropped 6.4%. Head of China's statistics bureau under investigation. Futures and oil reverse earlier declines as China concern calms. After the close, Apple reports earnings.
Sprint (S) is up nearly 20% this morning on improved outlook. Rambus (RMBS) reported Q4 earnings yesterday afternoon and is up 8% in pre-market. Coach (COH) reported this morning and is up nearly 5%, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) is up under 1% after reporting this morning. Other earnings reports include Lockheed Martin (LMT) which is down over 3% and 3M (MMM) which is up in pre-market.

AAPL bears came out yesterday, cooling off the stellar rally that dazzled us on Friday and dropping 1.95%. AAPL showed some promise in pre-market yesterday with an eye on the 102 prize and opened at 101.44 on moderate volume. Unfortunately, AAPL was only able to get 9 cents higher to 101.53 before struggling with 101 and "battling" in the mid-100 area for most of the day on moderate volume. AAPL "held on" to the mid-100 area until 3pm when it dropped towards 100 on moderate volume and broke with little resistance. AAPL found some footing near the mid-99 area after bottoming at 99.21 and ended the day down 1.98 at 99.44. AAPL gained an additional cent in after-hours to 99.45.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened down at 98.5 in conjunction with the sour Futures. As Futures improved, AAPL worked back up to 100 on moderate volume and AAPL is currently up 74 cents at 100.18 as we approach the open.
Classic max-pain is 100.
