Apple Today - 1/05/2016 (AAPL)
seymour_greenz January 5th 2016 10:03:19 AMGood Morning,
NASDAQ Futures are down 8 with +7 Fair Value, Dow Futures are down 38 on this second trading day of 2016. Futures were green early this morning and turned red before pre-market opened and seem to be slowly regaining as we approach the open.
Asian markets ended lower again, despite China's central bank injection of nearly $20 billion into the system. China dropped 0.26%, Hong Kong lost 0.65% and Japan ended down 0.42%. European markets are up with the UK currently leading, up 0.67%. Germany is also up 0.27% and France is up 0.12%.
Commodities are mostly up this morning. Oil is currently down 0.16%, natural gas is down 3.30% and gold is up 0.37%. Unleaded gas is up 0.60%, heating oil is up 1.36%. Metals are up sharply, meat is also up. Cocoa, cotton, corn, soybeans and wheat are up while cocoa is down.
China shares closed down again, but only moderately lower in significant recovery from opening down 3%. China's central bank added nearly $20 billion into the financial system today in an "attempt to ease investors fear of the country's economic slowdown".
Look for earnings from restaurant chain Sonic (SONC) this afternoon after the bell. Tomorrow morning, agricultural and herbicide manufacturer Monsanto Company (MON) is scheduled to report.
AAPL had a "panic moment" yesterday, opening at 102.5, down 2.7% on extremely high volume. AAPL reclaimed 103 pretty quickly on huge volume and, through the rest of the day, AAPL steadily recovered back to Friday's close on moderate volume, regaining 104 by lunchtime and 105 in late afternoon. After 2pm, AAPL dipped from 105 to 104 but quickly bounced to close the intra-day session up 9 cents at 105.35. After-hours was "optimistic" with AAPL gaining an additional 39 cents to close the session at 105.74.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL picked up at 105.4 on low volume, slightly above the mark where intra-day trading left off yesterday. In light of worsening Futures, AAPL gravitated towards 105 and hung around the 105-area for most of the morning, periodically dipping into the upper-104 area and peeking into the low-105 area, reaching a pre-market high point of 105.48 on higher volume. AAPL is currently down 2 cents at 105.33.
Classic max-pain is 106.
