The UK is down 1.21%, France is down 1.34% and Germany is lagging further behind, down 1.56%. Commodities are in trouble again this morning, with oil down 2% in pre-market again. Natural gas is down 1.6% and gold is down 0.62%. Corn is the sole green commodity this morning, up 0.27%.
Redbook's chain-store sales for the week ending November 28 beat views, as did construction spending for October.
The Children's Place (PLCE) is up nearly 7% in pre-market this morning after posting an upbeat Q3 profit. This afternoon after the bell, look for earnings from Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (KKD) and Dave & Buster's Entertainment (PLAY). Tomorrow morning, Costco Wholesale Corporation (COST) and Lululemon Athletica (LULU) are expected to report earnings.
AAPL had a down day yesterday, dropping 0.63%, though it appeared to hold up fairly well considering the broader market. AAPL opened on a high note, picking up from last Friday's "rally" and quickly zoomed up towards 120, hitting a peak of 119.86 by 9:38am on moderate volume. After that, AAPL danced around 119, flipping back and forth from red to green a few times before conceding 119 at 10:30am to head down towards mid-118 by 11am, then to the low-118 area for the rest of the day, with the exception of a dip below 118 to 117.81 at 3:06pm on relatively low volume. AAPL quickly recovered the dip to end the intra-day session at 118.28. AAPL traded in a narrow range in after-hours, eventually losing 2 cents to 118.26.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL opened up lower in conjunction with Futures and quickly lost the 118. Struggling to hold the upper-117 area in the face of worsening Futures, AAPL eventually conceded and broke below 117.5 at 7:32am on relatively high volume. As Futures declined, so did AAPL, hitting as low as 117 at 8:30am. AAPL is currently down 1.18 at 117.10.
Classic max-pain is 117.
