Apple Today - 10/27/2015 (AAPL)
seymour_greenz October 27th 2015 09:28:26 AMGood Morning,
NASDAQ Futures are down 4 with -9 Fair Value, Dow Futures are down 43 as we await Apple earnings this afternoon. Asian markets were mixed, with China and Hong Kong closing up 0.14% and 0.11, respectively. On the other hand, Japan closed down 0.9%. European markets are currently lower, UK, Germany and France are all down about 0.5%. Alibaba (BABA) reported earnings this morning, beat expectations and is currently up over 8%, a China surprise having a positive effect on AAPL pps this morning. On the other side of the coin, American Capital Agency Corp (AGNC) is currently down over 3.5% after reporting earnings yesterday afternoon and Cheesecake Factory (CAKE) slipped nearly 6% this morning after reporting a soft Q4 outlook. Apple (AAPL) reports after the bell today along with a number of others including Twitter (TWTR), Express Scripts (ESRX) and Panera Bread (PNRA).
AAPL had a rough day yesterday, conceding the cheerful 119 OPEX on Friday and losing all of Friday's gains. Trouble brewed in pre-market and AAPL opened lower at 118, hit a peak of 118.12 and immediately sold down to 116 on extremely high volume. The rest of the day struggled in the 115-zone with a brief dip under 115 to 114.92 on high volume and ultimately ended the intra-day session near the day's low at 115.28. After-hours was uneventful with AAPL trading in a narrow range with AAPL losing another 8 cents to 115.2.
This morning in pre-market, AAPL picked up at 115.24 and by 5:08am sold down to 114.43 on low volume. AAPL subsequently recovered 115 and staged a comeback around 7:30am, hitting a pre-market high of 115.94 on higher volume, perhaps in "conjunction" with Alibaba's earnings report before settling slightly. AAPL is currently up 27 cents at 115.55.
Classic max-pain is 115. Today is AAPL earnings.
